Welcome! Take off your coat and stay awhile. While you’re here, check out some of my most recent blog posts and follow along as I try to shed some light on modern marketing, PR, digital media, and life as a geek.
A little bit about Ivan Potocnik:
“Who the heck is this guy?”
My name is Ivan Nicholas Potocnik, and I’m 27 years old. I am a longtime digital media specialist with a passion for the ‘new rules’ of marketing and PR. I’ve worked as a freelancer in this field for many years where I have developed, distributed, and managed a series of projects that have helped me grow into my skin as a specialist within the fields of development, marketing, and digital media.
But first and foremost, I’m a geek. You heard me correctly. I’m a big ol’ geek. I live for the things that would have gotten you beaten up in grade school. This includes (but is not limited to) computers and new technologies, comics, video games, science fiction & fantasy, music, horror movies, fine arts, the 1980s, etc.
“Where did this fella come from?”
About 27 years ago I was born in a snowy little town in Upstate, New York called, Laurens. You’ve probably never heard of it, but it’s between Albany (the state capitol) and Binghamton (where that big IBM boom happened). I come from a family of traveling puppeteers (I’ll give you a moment to soak that up). Needless to say I’ve been tons of places. Japan, hotspots all over North America, Europe, and the list continues. I’ve just recently moved back to Oneonta, New York from Honolulu, Hawaii where I had lived for the past year.
“Why should I read this junk and what will I find here?”
The content on this page is going to be split into two pretty basic categories: You’ll see posts from my marketing blog, as well as my personal blog, which I’ve entitled “Ivan’s Geek.blog.”
The “Marketing” category is where you’ll find information on modern trends, best practices, and news events from the world of marketing, PR, and digital media.
“Geek.blog” is where you’ll hear me rant, rave, and preach about all of the delicious little nuggets of geekdom that I happen to come across. You may also experience the occasional pet project, video edit, music upload, or piece of late-night, half-baked philosophy and introspection.
It can be a pretty informative and pretty interesting place if you stick around.
“Does Ivan love me and want me to stick around?”
You know it, baby!
